Project Barnyard – Rockville, Utah

Project Barnyard is a nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary based in Rockville, Utah, dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals that have been neglected, abandoned, or at risk of entering the slaughter pipeline. The organization focuses primarily on horses, donkeys, and mules—many of which arrive elderly, injured, or in critical condition—but also provides care for other farm and companion animals in need. 

Unlike traditional rescues, Project Barnyard is built around a lifetime sanctuary model. The animals brought in are not rehabilitated for resale or adoption—they are given a permanent, safe environment where they can recover and live out the remainder of their lives with dignity. Each rescue often requires extensive veterinary care, nutritional support, and long-term attention, making the work both intensive and deeply personal. 

At the center of Project Barnyard is Tessa, whose commitment drives the organization forward. Her involvement is hands-on and constant—from daily animal care to managing the sanctuary itself. This is not a distant or administrative role; it is a full, ongoing investment of time, energy, and heart into every animal and every aspect of the operation.
